Polarity in Motion is the story of two young people falling in love while they both struggle with overwhelming challenges. She has a mother with borderline personality disorder. He lost his father to war in Afghanistan.

There are barriers in the story–some visible, some invisible, and most denied.  Discussions can spring from the title. Why would a girl be named Polarity? Is there a barrier between Ethan and Polarity even though they care deeply for each other? If you love someone who is a different race, can you still be influenced by racism?
